Dr Cary Gayheart

Cary Gayheart is a Kentucky native and went to the University of Louisville for her undergraduate studies. For vet school, she decided to combine her love of travel with her career goals and moved to Dublin, Ireland to attend the University College Dublin. After graduation in 1999, she worked in emergency work for 2 years before settling into general practice. She joined the staff at Animal Doctors in 2011. She loves that the staff and clients feel like family and strives to make sure each experience in Animal Doctors is positive for the pet and the client. Her goal is to provide loving, compassionate care for all her patients through all their life stages.

She lives in Lyndon with her husband, son, and a happy mix of dogs and cats. She volunteers with Bluegrass Pug Rescue and often has a foster pug as well. When not working, she likes to enjoy her family, read, knit and sometimes sleep!

Jenny Shane
Patient Care Team

Jenny has worked in the veterinary field since 2002 and has always had a love for animals. She’s lived in Jeffersontown for 20 years, and is happy to have found a place doing what she loves so close to home. She was drawn to Animal Doctors for their focus on making vet visits positive experiences for furry family members and their pet parents.

She is passionate about caring for dogs and cats, and has raised many orphaned kittens over the years. She enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, three dogs, five cats, one rabbit, and five rats. When not at work, she likes to go camping and hiking, visit local parks, play video games with her family, or curl up with a cat and a good book.
Wendy Gentry
Patient Care Team

Wendy has been an employee of Animal Doctors since 1997. In that time, she has worked in every department from client care to medical care to surgery. Currently, she is the senior patient care assistant and handles inventory management for the clinic so she is super busy behind the scenes!

Wendy’s favorite part of the job is the family atmosphere and how close we are to our clients.

She is a graduate of the University of Louisville but is an avid UK Wildcat fan. In her spare time, she cheers on her Cats and enjoys the outdoors, listening to classic rock music (especially the Beatles!), and playing with her cat, Barnabas.

Brittany Semegen
Patient Care Team

Brittany joined our team in August of 2016 after working with the Kentucky Humane Society for 3 years. She loves getting to work with our patients one on one as a patient care staff member, helping them live long and healthy lives. Her favorite part of the job is meeting our clients and seeing how much they love their pets.

Brittany lives in Louisville with her husband, Nick and her two boys -Jase and Kolton. She has 2 dogs, Lacey and Harlow and 2 cats, Riley and Remington. She enjoys hanging out with family, spending time outdoors and going to the zoo and parks.

Paige Tharpe
Patient Care Team

Paige has been working in veterinary clinics since she was 16. She graduated veterinary technician school in 1992 and has been working as a licensed technician ever since. Her favorite aspect of this profession (besides the animals) is being the “spoke person” for the pet to the pet parent. Helping clients understand the best care for their pet and getting to know the families individually are what keeps her coming to work everyday.

Paige grew up in Florida on a farm and has had many different species of animals. Currently, her family has a rescued pitbull named, Dozer, 2 cats (Kudzu and Mary Weebles), a guinea pig (Nibbles) and a bearded dragon named, Skitter.

She and her husband have two boys and as a family, they love to explore and do outdoor activities like hiking, paddling and fishing. They moved from Atlanta, Georgia and have lived in Kentucky for about 10 years and are loving the change of seasons and the slower pace.
