Dr Cary Gayheart

Cary Gayheart is a Kentucky native and went to the University of Louisville for her undergraduate studies. For vet school, she decided to combine her love of travel with her career goals and moved to Dublin, Ireland to attend the University College Dublin. After graduation in 1999, she worked in emergency work for 2 years before settling into general practice. She joined the staff at Animal Doctors in 2011. She loves that the staff and clients feel like family and strives to make sure each experience in Animal Doctors is positive for the pet and the client. Her goal is to provide loving, compassionate care for all her patients through all their life stages.

She lives in Lyndon with her husband, son, and a happy mix of dogs and cats. She volunteers with Bluegrass Pug Rescue and often has a foster pug as well. When not working, she likes to enjoy her family, read, knit and sometimes sleep!

Dr. Megan Viniard

Dr. Viniard grew up in central Ohio where her passion for animals grew through her involvement in 4-H. She raised and showed horses, lambs and rabbits. She received her bachelors in Animal Health Technology from Murray State University in 2010, and then went on to veterinary school at The Ohio State University where she graduated in 2014.

She joined the staff at Animal Doctors in March of 2018 where she loves the family like atmosphere. Dr. Viniard enjoys all aspects of caring for her patients, but she especially loves focusing on surgery and treating behavior concerns. Many pets are scared when they come to the vet, and her goal is to make every vet visit as low stress and enjoyable as possible.

Dr. Viniard likes to spend her free time with her husband, Jeff, and their dogs in the woods. They enjoy hiking, backpacking and camping. She also likes working on training with her pups, reading, and running.

Wendy Gentry
Patient Care Team

Wendy has been an employee of Animal Doctors since 1997. In that time, she has worked in every department from client care to medical care to surgery. Currently, she is the senior patient care assistant and handles inventory management for the clinic so she is super busy behind the scenes!

Wendy’s favorite part of the job is the family atmosphere and how close we are to our clients.

She is a graduate of the University of Louisville but is an avid UK Wildcat fan. In her spare time, she cheers on her Cats and enjoys the outdoors, listening to classic rock music (especially the Beatles!), and playing with her cat, Barnabas.

Brittany Semegen
Patient Care Team

Brittany joined our team in August of 2016 after working with the Kentucky Humane Society for 3 years. She loves getting to work with our patients one on one as a patient care staff member, helping them live long and healthy lives. Her favorite part of the job is meeting our clients and seeing how much they love their pets.

Brittany lives in Louisville with her husband, Nick and her two boys -Jase and Kolton. She has 2 dogs, Lacey and Harlow and 2 cats, Riley and Remington. She enjoys hanging out with family, spending time outdoors and going to the zoo and parks.

Paige Tharpe
Patient Care Team

Paige has been working in veterinary clinics since she was 16. She graduated veterinary technician school in 1992 and has been working as a licensed technician ever since. Her favorite aspect of this profession (besides the animals) is being the “spoke person” for the pet to the pet parent. Helping clients understand the best care for their pet and getting to know the families individually are what keeps her coming to work everyday.

Paige grew up in Florida on a farm and has had many different species of animals. Currently, her family has a rescued pitbull named, Dozer, 2 cats (Kudzu and Mary Weebles), a guinea pig (Nibbles) and a bearded dragon named, Skitter.

She and her husband have two boys and as a family, they love to explore and do outdoor activities like hiking, paddling and fishing. They moved from Atlanta, Georgia and have lived in Kentucky for about 10 years and are loving the change of seasons and the slower pace.

Faith Rawlings
Patient Care Team

Faith joined our team in March of 2018 after spending 3 years working for pet stores. In the clinic, she spends time both as a client care representative and a veterinary assistant.

On her days off she enjoys spending time with her family and her animals. She has two dogs; Fargo, a lab mix, and Danbury, a shepherd mix. She also has a mini-flock of birds and a few geckos who she loves.

Shanna Lockwood
Patient Care Team

Shanna graduated as a veterinary technician in 2004 and has worked as a vet tech for well over a decade now. She has two daughters and four fur babies, three of which are rescues. Her passion for animals has led her down the path of keeping them healthy and also making sure they stay looking their best, as she was also a groomer for several years. When it comes to experience and a well-rounded outlook, she’s definitely got it.

While she grew up in Kentucky, she spent some years living in Florida and is ready to continue what she loves in the place she knows best.

Madeleine Gerrard
Patient Care Team

Madeleine, also known as Maddie, is our Client Care Representative. She is currently working on an Environmental Studies degree with a focus in Wildlife Management and Conservation.

With Steve Irwin and Jane Goodall being her life inspirations, animal welfare has been a life-long passion of hers.

Kim Walter
Practice Manager

Kim Walter was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She has worked as a practice manager for 10 years. Her and her family moved to Indiana for 5 years, and now La Grange KY is where she calls home. She has always had a passion for animals and knew she wanted to help them in any way she could.

She loves the Veterinary industry and wants to learn as much as she can about how veterinary medicine is growing and changing. She also loves to help the clients and their furbabies as well. When she is not at work, she is spending time with her husband and their 4 kids, along with the 6 four legged babies.
