Is your pet stressed or fearful about coming to the vet clinic? Happy visits can help them learn not to be afraid! Does your pet love to come to see us? Awesome! Let’s keep it that way. Happy visits are unscheduled, informal visits that allow your pet to have a positive experience in the clinic on a day when we don’t have to do anything invasive. They can just come in, get some treats and be on their way. Happy visits are a great option for pets with mild fears that we can start treating before they become more serious, or for pets that aren’t fearful and we want to make sure it stays that way. Ask us about happy visits at your next appointment.
Victory visits are scheduled, more structured training appointments with Dr. Viniard that allow us to address specific fears or anxieties that your pet has about the vet clinic or the handling that we need to do to keep your pet healthy. These training appointments are tailored to each pet’s needs. We can work on everything from simply walking in the building without stress to training them to accept nail trimming, vaccines, restraint, etc. without responding in fear. Even the most fearful pets can learn over time that the vet clinic is a good place to come!
An in-depth consultation with Dr. Viniard for specific behavior concerns such as separation anxiety, generalized anxiety, noise phobia, reactivity to strangers or other dogs, etc. We will get a detailed history and formulate a treatment plan. Treatment usually involves a combination of behavior modification (training) and anti-anxiety medication but is tailored specifically to the needs of each patient and their family. When appropriate, recommendations will be made for referral to a board-certified veterinary behaviorist and/or a qualified professional trainer.
