Dr. Ashley Barnett
Dr. Ashley Barnett
Medical Director, Veterinarian

Dr. Ashley Barnett joined the Animal Doctors family in July 2021 and earned her veterinary degree from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. After completing veterinary school, she returned to her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, where she worked as a private practice veterinarian focusing on small animals. Dr. Barnett has a special interest in internal medicine cases as they challenge her in this ever-evolving field. Her family includes her loving husband, two beautiful animal-loving boys, six frisky dogs, and four always-demanding kitty cats. She has truly enjoyed watching her boys develop such a strong human-animal.

Dr. Emily Johnson

Veterinarian

Dr. Emily Johnson grew up in Frankfort, Kentucky. She is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and received her DVM from Auburn University. Dr. Johnson has practiced small animal medicine for 26 years in various locations in Central and Eastern Kentucky. She has a 22-year-old daughter, 4 dogs, 4 cats, 4 horses, 1 donkey, and 6 chickens. Her hobbies include gardening, riding horses, and listening to live bands.

Katlyn
Katlyn

Practice Manager

Katlyn, or Kat as she prefers to be called, recently joined the Animal Doctors team as a veterinary assistant. She has six years of experience in the veterinary field and previously worked for a local emergency hospital. Kat’s favorite part of the job is working in surgery. If your pet has a procedure coming up, she will be there caring for them behind the scenes. She has a soft spot for pitbulls and has 2 of her own named Lucy (Bug) and Tater. She is pleased to have joined the Animal Doctors team!

Jenny Shane
Jenny

Veterinary Technician

Jenny has worked in the veterinary field since 2002 and has always loved animals. She’s lived in Jeffersontown for 20 years and is happy to have found a place doing what she loves so close to home. She was drawn to Animal Doctors for their focus on making vet visits positive experiences for furry family members and their pet parents.

She is passionate about caring for dogs and cats and often fosters homeless kittens. She enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, two dogs, four cats, and four rats. When not at work, she likes camping and hiking, visiting local parks, playing video games with her family, or curling up with a cat and a good book.

Brittany Semegen
Brittany

Veterinary Technician

Brittany joined our team in August of 2016 after working with the Kentucky Humane Society for 3 years. She loves getting to work with our patients one on one as a patient care staff member, helping them live long and healthy lives. Her favorite part of the job is meeting our clients and seeing how much they love their pets.

Brittany lives in Louisville with her husband, Nick and her two boys -Jase and Kolton. She has 2 dogs, Lacey and Harlow and 2 cats, Riley and Remington. She enjoys hanging out with family, spending time outdoors and going to the zoo and parks.

Paige Tharpe
Paige

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Paige has been working in veterinary clinics since she was 17 years. She graduated from veterinary technician school in 1992 and has been working as a licensed technician ever since. Her favorite aspect of this profession (besides the animals) is being an advocate for the pet to the pet parent. Helping clients understand the best care for their pets and getting to know the families individually is what keeps her coming to work every day.

Paige grew up in Florida on a farm and has had many different species of animals. Currently, her family has a perfect kitty named Porsche and a bearded Dragon named Skitter.

She and her husband have two boys and as a family, they love to explore and do outdoor activities like hiking, paddling, and fishing. They moved from Atlanta, Georgia, and have lived in Kentucky for 17 years and are loving the change of seasons and the slower pace.

Deanna
Deanna

Customer Service Representative

Deanna has been working as a veterinary receptionist since 2017, and joined the Animal Doctors team in 2021. She loves getting to know clients and their pets personally and wants everyone to feel like they have a friend at the front desk. She is currently acting as the clinic’s Wellbeing Ambassador to support employee mental health.

Deanna has a soft spot for hound dogs. She lives with 2 beagles and 3 guinea pigs. She enjoys embroidery, painting, and puzzles.

Trisha
Trisha

Customer Service Representative

Trisha is new to Animal Doctors and to the veterinary field in general and is determined to learn all she can. Her family includes two beautiful daughters, her fiancé, a beagle, and a Labrador retriever. She loves to read and care for her plants in her spare time. She also loves hiking and spending quality time with her family.

Kayle
Kayle

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Kayle has been in the veterinary field since 2017 and a licensed technician since 2019. She went to Dundee High School and then pursued her veterinary technician associate degree at Stuutzenberger College. She moved to Kentucky from Michigan in August of 2023. She enjoys spending time with her husband and son and their miniature dachshund, Lulu, and cat, Squeakers. Her hobbies include watching Netflix and listening to Taylor Swift.

Gronk
Gronk

Gronk comes to work with Dr. Barnett on most days. He likes to find where cuddles are most needed in the clinic and is our therapy dog for grieving pet parents. He loves taking care of baby kitties and getting pets. You may find him hanging out near a treat jar when it’s not too busy.

Sam And Dean
SAM & DEAN

Sam and Dean recently came to us from another vet in Springfield, KY. They haven’t been with us long, but have settled in nicely. You can often find them curled up in our receptionist’s chair or sleeping in a basket in our treatment area.
